A fashion expert reveals the hidden message the Princess of Wales wanted to send with her latest style choice.
The Princess of Wales may have wanted to send a particular kind of message through her latest video appearance, according to a style expert.
Princess Kate appeared in a video released by Kensington Palace on Monday and spoke about her cancer journey, revealing that she has completed her chemotherapy treatment and is now focusing on doing what she can to stay cancer-free, with a “renewed sense of hope and appreciation of life”.
Kate sported two dresses in the clips as she announced the joyous news – Veronica Beard’s Castella floral-print Ramie midi dress in ivory and a light denim button-down dress by H&M.
She styled both dresses with her beloved white Veja trainers.
Now a fashion expert pointed out that there is one common detail in both of her dresses which could carry a deeper meaning for the princess.
Princess Kate had a secret message she wanted to send with her style choice.
Megan Watkins, Head Stylist at online fashion destination, SilkFred, said that both dresses featured sky blue hues in them, a colour which is “often associated with optimism, loyalty, and confidence” and one which could be a nod to her road to recovery.
She told Express.co.uk: “It is interesting to note that sky blue featured heavily in both of her dresses.
“Sky blue is often associated with optimism, loyalty, and confidence, perhaps a nod to her road to recovery, the clear and unwavering support of her family and her confidence to get back to her royal engagements.
“Sky blue is also a colour tied closely to nature, and the airy styles of both of her dresses perhaps show a deeper connection to the natural world and getting back to basics.”
Ms Watkins also noted that the decision by all the Waleses to wear blue or have accents of blue in the video shows “solidarity and their bolstered closeness”.
She also praised the princess for shifting away from her usually tailored outfits to “more casual, distinctly summery items”.
